Nice, Would Be GREAT If It Had Duplex Printing
I recently bought 2 Apple products, the first in my 65 years. I have yet to find a way to get ANY printing done on them with our 2 newer printers that work flawlessly for our 5 Window 8.1 computers. This printer is to be dedicated to my 2 Apple products but found it also works flawlessly with all my Windows 8.1 computers as well so no idea what is holding my newest Brother Multi Function Laser back but I really have no desire to dig into that since this is just fine.
Setup was just 5 minutes or so and NO glitches, NO headaches and nothing to leave me scratching my head. With all the nightmare Windows 8.1 gave me (even making my backup hard drives go invisible etc...) that alone makes this printer worth the money. Adequate
The good features minus the bad features makes this an adequate but not phenomenal product. I looked at the features that this printer offered before accepting it to review and was impressed. The description made this sound like the easiest printer to use. The description was wrong - this is not an easy printer to use, but only with the set up. It took two of us, and my husband isn't a slouch with things like this like I am -I am a Luddite when it comes time to computers and their peripherals. Normally, if I can do it,then anyone can.
I got it hooked up no problem to my elderly Toshiba laptop with Vista (can you believe it?) and then we were able to connect it to my husbands brand new one, again with minimal problems. It's connecting it to my phone that is the problem. Well not much of a problem for me because I most likely wouldn't have used this feature much. This 'Samsung Wireless Monochrome Printer with Scanner copier and Fax' does it all, and nicely, too.
Removing the packaging and readying this machine for set-up is quick and easy if attention is paid to the included instruction sheet. And It takes but a short while to warm up. However, when ready it didn't set-up wireless immediately from the included CD. Turned out not to be a problem, though, as attaching the provided USB cord fixed the issue right away.Then set-up was quick. Removed the USB cord and the device works perfectly in 'wireless'.
I've given it a thorough testing for printing wireless from my PC, for scanning and for copying, too, and every function works flawlessly. I did not test the Fax function, though. Readability of printed results is excellent and there are options for lighter/darker. In fact there are a host of operator preferences provided with this machine; as many as most might have a need for.
