A beast of a machine
I have had this for one week and I absolutely love it. For starters, my HP 3330 mfp multi-function machine died after nearly 10 years of use. You would think that I would naturally go and get another one from HP, right? Wrong. HP was once the king of the printer manufacturers and Brother was an afterthought. Times have changed and Brother, in my opinion, has created some compelling multifunction entries that people should look into.
At this juncture, this is what I like:
--Speed, 42 ppm
--quality of print that is adjustable for draft copies
--high capacity paper reservoir
--ability to print off my Android device wirelessly, although I would not use this for presentation output
--print directly from a USB drive
--crisp color scans
--separate shut off switch to save energy (my old HP didn't have this).

Beware of the STACK default setting if you make a lot of copies
I purchased this printer from another retailer. I own a small law firm and wanted a workhorse for a small price to print, make copies and scan documents.The printer overall works and performs adequately. The auto document feeder works well, no jamming and is quite fast for both copying and scanning. My biggest complaint with this printer is the default setting for copying.This model and the 8950DW and perhaps all Brother printers default to STACK when making copies. If you're unfamiliar with STACK, it means that if you copy a 5 page document and make several copies then each page will stack in the output tray, ie pg 1 1 1 1, 2 2 2 2 , 3 3 3 3 and so on. This essentially requires you to sort through the pages in piles and sort them yourself, wasting time.
The printer does have an option to change the copy setting to sort the document for you but you must scroll through the menu and select it each time you want to copy a new document, again wasting time. I decided to call...
Good Small-Office Copier/Scanner/Printer/Fax
At our small office we got rid of our big copier/scanner/printer/fax in favor of something small that wasn't in the price range of an automobile, like our previous copier, which we wore out after about 6 years. The idea was that there wouldn't be a contract and if it broke we'd just replace it. The things we needed were: access control, scanning to email, an auto sheet feeder, printing, and faxing. This machine does all those things. You can manage everything through its web interface, which is nice.
Things I like:
1. It starts printing as it is scanning the pages and it prints pretty fast.
2. Web setup interface.
3. Sheet feeder (but it's loud)
4. It uses cheap toner that many other brother printers use (which helps keep the cost down)
5. Color scanning (although it's just a black and white laser, which is what we wanted though)
6. Single pass duplex scanning
