Great printer

What a shock! I was expecting just a compact printer/ scanner/ fax, but was surprised at how really smart it is and how easy it was to set up -- almost like it didn't come from HP!

BEWARE OF UNETHICAL, ILLEGAL HP PRACTICES. I purchased an HP Photosmart C6280 printer 6 years ago for $230. I selected that high-end, expensive model printer because it had the automatic duplex (2-sided) printing feature. After about 3-4 years, HP began to force updating the printer software utility over the internet without my consent. The weekly practice became a real nuisance and added no noticeable benefit. After about 6 years, I discovered that the auto-duplex capability had mysteriously disappeared from the software utility! I tried downloading the latest version of the utility, but still had no auto-duplex printing option. Apparently, HP took that feature away to motivate me to buy a new printer! That practice is nothing short of stealing what was legally mine, well paid for! I was forced to purchase a new printer, but not an HP! I bought a Brother!

Built like a tank!
I received this as a gift from my daughter and it is probably the sturdiest (and most attractive) printer I've ever owned. Considering that I was an early adopter of personal computers in the late 1970s as well as a retired IT professional that is saying a lot.

Set-up was simple. You can configure it by attaching to your computer's USB port, but I opted to just use the front panel on the printer. It found my router, and after I gave it the network's password it was fully integrated into my home's WiFi net.

Copying, scanning and faxing can be done right from the front panel. Also, the eFax feature eliminates the need for a phone line. More importantly, you can access this printer from anywhere that you can get web access by using HP's free ePrint and Share service.

As another reviewer stated, the paper tray has a relatively small capacity, which can be an issue for busy remote workers who are working from home, but frequently printing on site documents...
